BLEPHAROPLASTY
What does blepharoplasty consist of?
Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery performed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids, improving aesthetics and providing a rejuvenated look.
Who is a candidate for blepharoplasty?
It is indicated for men or women who have excess skin and/or fat deposits in the upper and/or lower eyelids and who wish to improve the appearance of the eye area. More common in older patients, but also occurs in some young people.
What is the difference between upper and lower blepharoplasty?
Upper blepharoplasty focuses on removing excess skin and, when necessary, fat from the upper eyelids. Lower blepharoplasty, on the other hand, treats fat deposits and sagging skin under the eyes.
How is blephroplasty surgery performed?
In the upper eyelid, the incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid, removing excess skin and, if necessary, repositioning the fat. In the lower eyelid, the incision can be made just below the lash line, allowing for the removal or redistribution of excess fat and skin.
What type of anesthesia is used for otoplasty?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, with or without sedation. Very young children or highly anxious individuals are sedated only to ensure the procedure is performed accurately and without interference that could affect the outcome.
Where are the scars located? Are they visible?
Blepharoplasty scars are positioned in the natural folds of the eyelids or close to the lash line, making them discreet and, over time, virtually imperceptible.
What type of anesthesia is used in blepharoplasty?
Generally, local anesthesia with light sedation is used.
When can I return to my daily activities?
Most patients return to their daily activities in about a week. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure for one month.
Are the results of blepharoplasty permanent?
The surgery removes excess skin and offers long-lasting results, maintained for many years. However, the aging process continues, and partial skin laxity may return after a long time.
